Recently Cybermetrics Lab did a survey of all the Universities in Indian subcontinent region .They finally came up with the Rankings of Top 100 Universities present in Indian subcontinent (it also includes Pakistan , bhutan etc.) . I sorted out the universities which offers engineering in their curriculum . These are all Indian universities .

Placement statistics of NSIT- Delhi

Netaji Subash Institute of technology (NSIT) is located in outer area of Western Delhi. It established in 1983 as a Delhi Institute of technology at kashmere gate.It was renamed as Netaji Subash Institute of Technology in 1997 and got shifted to new campus Dwarkain in 1998. The college has an intake of 420 students. It has got five discipline groups ----

1. Electronics and Communication Engg.
   
2. Computer Engg.
   
3. Instrumentation and control Engg.
   
4. Manufacturing Processes & automation engg.
   
5. Information Technology
   

Recently college is trying to get one more B.E. degree programme i.e. biotechnology . College also has a distinguished Higher degree programmes under following disciplines i.e. Information Systems , signal processing & Process control .

College has distinguished placement record and it's getting an increase in placement year by year. The placement percentage for this year is being shown in table below:-


Now I will be presenting here the list of companies visited for the placement in recent two years and the intake by them . Salary ranges from 2 to 5.50 lac.

The maximum placement for the academic year 2007-08 was 13 lac with an average salary pay of approx 3 lac .The college has got a lot of reputation in Delhi which can be easily seen from the choices of students for the colleges in CEE in recent years .

OUT OF TOP 50 TOPPERS OF CEE
The overall placement of college can be considered as satisfactory . But , As the location of college is highly favorable for the placement , it has not shown any output like which can be termed as "Awesome ". But , it's a new college and it will gain success in recent years . The placement of college will increase in coming time as it's reputation is increasing day by day . So , it's a very good choice for a student who didn't get through IIT's or BITS-Pilani or who is getting a crap branch in these colleges .

Placement analysis of IIT Kanpur

We all consider IIT Kanpur as a dream college for any engineering aspirants in india . A student when decides to prepare for competitive examination of enginnering , he often see his destination as IIT knapur in his dream for future . But , is this great college is doing well in terms of placement too? , probably we can analyse it now . As it was very difficult to get the authorised data of placement record of IIT Kanpur , i won't be able to present all the required essence of placement of IIT Kanpur . I am presenting here the placement data of 2006-07 in IIT Kanpur.


As placement session is held in second semester for all the degrees in IIT Kanpur. Before discussing about the details of the placement . I will present here some salient features about IIT kanpur in the fiels of acadmics.

•  There are five letter grades which have numerical equivalents on 10 point scale.
  

• In addition, there are three letter grades, viz., I, S and X, which stand for Incomplete, Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory, respectively.
  

• Further, for courses with zero weightage only Pass (P) / Fail (F) grades are awarded.
  

• Cumulative Performance Index (CPI): The overall academic performance of a student in all the courses registered up to last
  
• Semester I: From the fourth week of July to the last week of
  November
  Semester II : From the last week of December to the last week of
  April
  Summer Term: From the middle of May to the middle of July
  Each academic semester of four months comprises of two Mid
  semester examinations, and one end semester exam along with
  regular quizzes, presentations, projects, assignments, term paper
  and term projects.

For Practical knowledge and hands on experience there are full lab
courses also.

A student is required to complete successfully all the courses of the
curriculum prescribed for programme and obtain a minimum CPI
as under:

B.Tech.: 5.0
B.Tech.-M.Tech. (Dual degree): 6.5
M.Sc.(Integrated): 5.0
M.Sc. (2 year): 6.0
M.Sc.-Ph.D.(Dual degree): 6.0

Since I was not able to get the information about the average package of IIT kanpur , I will be presenting here only the list of recruiters and percentage of placement according to different no. of branches in the campus.

Placement analysis of IIIT Hyderabad

This post will give you the enhanced detail of the placement IIIT Hyderabad . I can't tell it a proper Engineering College because of unavailability of core branches like mechanical, civil etc. The college is basically concentarte over Information technology . The theme of Institute is research in the field of Computer science or more precisely in the field of Information technology .

Institute has collaboration with many companies like MOTOROLA ,Oracle etc . The placement session continues for both the semester and students sits according to their C.G.P.A. (Cumulative grade point average) in placement starting from people with higher C.G.P.A. . Placement of IIT Hyderabad refers to the on campus job placement assistance provided to the 2007 graduating batch of undergraduate and postgraduate students. This excludes the statistics relating to the ongoing individualized placement assistance being provided to the postgraduate research students.

Placement season 2007 in IIIT Hyderabad was conducted in 24 days, over six weeks, starting December 3, 2006, mostly on weekends, public holidays, and during winter vacation.

Views above the placement

If you will clearly see the Placement of IIIT Hyderabad of the year 2007 you will find certain points .The Placement seems to be very good with average pay of 5.27 Lac per annum , But we should not overlook the fact that IIIT Hyderabad only has Information technology field to ponder . These branches are the most demanding field in Engineering . So, inspite of such a high average Placement , it is not satisfactory for IIIT Hydrabad .

But As this was the 5th placement of IIIT Hyderabad the no. of companies visited the campus is quite happening and in the recent years it will touch its zenith. All the brand names were present in the campus ranging from google to De shaw. IIIT Hyderabad has developed itself as a pioneered research institute and its stepping its way forward toward its success to become the best research institute if India . I am hoping that placement will become much better in the recent year and it can be a very good choice after IITs. But It has miles to cover to reach the level of IITs.

Placement analysis of IIT - Guwahati

Now I will present here the list of IIT -Guwahati [Indian Institute of Technology - Guwahati). IIT's are always considered as the most prestigious institutes in INDIA . One of the reason behind this is the unmatchable placement statistics of their campuses situated all over in the country . As IIT- Guwahati is not that good big name in the history of IIT's but it denies all these stories by it's amazing placement . I am presenting here the placement statistics of academic year of 2006-07 .

I will suggest only one word for this type of aggressive placement i.e. AWESOME . The average package is very good for all type of the branches . The total companies visited to campus wasn't much satisfactory but the companies were present from all sector of industries . All types of Big Names are there . IIT - Guwahati has proved that why it has been a given a tag of IIT or vice versa . People often consider that IIT -Guwahati is far behind than other IIT's but the Placement record has completely deny this fact . Now , In the next post I will come with A new Indian Engineering Institute . Hoping that these facts will solve your problem for selecting Engineering college and respective branch of interest after secondary education.

Placement analysis of NIT Jaipur

Now I am going to present here the placement statistics of NIT Jaipur commonly known as " Malviya National Institute of Technology " for the year 2006-07 . Institute has uploaded the placement statistics of the year 2006-07. Since they have placement session throughout the Year . So, It won't be good if I present the placement statistics of 2007-08 as they won't be the total placement of that year.

After Detailed analysis of the Placement statistics of NIT - Jaipur of the year 2006-07 . I came up with some points in my mind. If you will see the average placement i.e. is 3.34 lacs per annum which is more than decent even though college is not counted as the top ten Institute of Engineering of India is able to attract the companies from all sectors of industry. All the Big companies are present in the pool of placement of NIT - Jaipur except few . But the main weak point is that the majority of the student are being placed in the group of either 1.8- 2.4 lacs per annum or 2.4 - 3.5 lacs per annum . There are less than 25 students who got the package of more than 5 lacs per annum . Some of the big names of IT sectore like ADOBE , GOLDMAN SACS , YAHOO etc. are also not there in Pool . Overall Placement was good and according to NIT - jaipur this is the best placement which they had in recent years .

---------------Overall placement is quite good . Good number of core companies for each and every branch came for the campus placement . But , The number of companies visited for campus placement is not satisfactory. Even though average placement is good but the big name like GOOGLE , ORACLE , ADOBE etc. are not present in the placement cart.
-------------According to me ,Since there are very few engineering branches in the DCE instead of any other engineering college (no presence of science related branches etc.), DCE has got a edge against other engineering colleges in the form of more average placement . The geographical location of college is also quite good as present in CAPITAL OF INDIA , so there should be more bunch of companies present in the placement cart of the college.
I will start with a other colleges in my next post, till than keep posting comments & suggestion to improve my posting .

Engineering college rankings

At present , Engineering is considered as a most highly rated career field . More than 60% students are taking maths only because they see their fortune in the exciting field of Engineering . Usually people starts with preparation for IIT-JEE in the 11th standard( intermediate college in some states), and usually starts with a IIT-JEE coaching class (By paying loads of money) to secure admission in prestigious engineering colleges of India.
But after getting ranks in all the prestigious exam like IIT-JEE , BITSAT and AIEEE(There are others too but i can't mention all) . The question which usually ponders in one's mind is that which college should i take? If he has got a very good rank in IIT-JEE ( according to me it's upto AIR 1200) , he will definitely heads off for any IIT ( which IIT -- it's also a very difficult Question). But what to do when u are not up to that mark.Obviously you will see some magazines and will find out which college suits you.
But can you believe on the rankings provided by these magazines.I saw nearly all magazines rankings and I was surprised to see all the surveys neglected the actual facts.See the rankings provided by OUTLOOK , DATAQUEST , NAAC .
If a person don,t know anything about the engineering colleges he is obviously going to believe them because these magazines are read by the common people. So, for a common person(like us) it is too difficult to decide which college should he take ? To get the solution of this problem i chit-chatted with some of my friends and came up with rankings of my own . They just shows the general perception of the students who are studying in BITS-pilani(my college friends) and some other good engineering college(coaching friends) .
